This was “Day at the Lake” for disabled kids that I had the pleasure of volunteering for. A man I went to school with started these activities for these kids. Another volunteer was there that I have known for a long time, also. She is doing a great job helping these kids, and she works with the elderly, too. My old friend, Carol.
I took my niece Lois to this event at Lake Allatoona. She had a blast. There were 30 boats with boat captains. They all received T-shirts and a captain for two hours. All of these boats were volunteers. The people who gave to this event for vendors and food are incredible.
There were games, food, face painting, and picture-taking. Here is a picture of my niece and her father.
The mother of Lois took the above photo.
These children were so precious. There was one girl who stole my heart and was giggling at bubbles. She had the most precious giggle I had ever heard. Everything went very well at this event. The weather was great, and there were no mishaps at all. The local police came and enjoyed their day with the kids. The kids were kidding with them about taking them to jail. “No one goes to jail today!!” They just giggled.

Above is Steve West, who started the lake activities for the children, and I will be interviewing him later. He works seven days a week.
Some of these kids come every year. There are different things for special needs kids to do and go in that area. I do not know anything special for them to participate in West Georgia. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but we cannot find Lois anywhere close in that area to sign up for. Many special needs children need the love and support of their communities in all Georgia areas.
Be on the lookout for my interview with Steve when I pin him down. His story is fascinating I hear, but I would like to get all the facts.

Bathrooms
Mirrors—You can spray on the surface and wipe it down with a cloth, and it will shine like a diamond.
If the sink gets stopped up, pour baking soda into the drain and then vinegar. It will bubble up, and it will stop. If it is still stuck, use a plunger, and it will bring hair and anything else to the surface. Throw it away and then repeat the process. Use baking soda to scrub dry for hard stains and vinegar to shine the sink. This is a safe process.
Tub and Shower—Use baking soda and vinegar. Scrub baking soda on the hard places and rinse. If you have a glass shower, you can use both. I recommend the Mr. Clean cleaning pads if you have hard water stains. Those pads are fantastic. They are beneficial.
The rest of the bathrooms are next week.
My Weekly RECIPE
Here is one of my family’s favorite recipes:
Ricky’s Potato Soup
Eight large potatoes
Canned corn beef (cheaper, greasier, the best)
Stick of butter
Salt and Pepper
1.5 cup cornmeal
3/4 milk or more. It needs to be a medium thickness.
Cook potatoes in just enough water not to pour out. Cook with salt, pepper, and butter. When the potatoes are done, slowly pour in the cornmeal mixture. My Ricky says,” S-L-O-W-L-Y.” He always says I do everything too fast. Then you stand there till it thickens. He says it is an art. If it doesn’t thicken, you have done something wrong. If you want to do something different, add corn now and then.
I will publish a short story for paid subscribers and an herbal remedy in one week from Friday.
My story will always be fiction. I will share one with you, free this Friday.
