I went to one of Alabama’s most beautiful State Parks last week. It was an island in the sky, Cheaha Mountain—the highest point in Alabama. Leaves were beautiful with colors of yellow, gold, and red.
History
Cheaha Mountain State Park has been public recreation since 1933 in Clay and Cleburne Counties in Alabama. It is around 2799 acres and holds Cheaha Mountain, the highest point in Alabama. It adjourns with The Talladega Forrest and is managed by Alabama Conservation and National Resources.
The Civilian Conservation Corps created Cheaha Lake in 1933 and built 11 stone cabins and 2 stone pavilions for the public’s enjoyment. They also built the Bunker Tower. They built the group lodge so big groups could stay and enjoy hiking trails for people to hike, exercise, and enjoy nature. 1973, the Corps built a hotel, restaurant, and 5 chalets. They upgraded as time went by.
Another hiking trail is the Cheaha Trailhead, which hooks to the Pinotti Trail System, which weaves through the Talladega National Forrest and connects to the Appalachian Trail. Wikipedia.com
There are 73 overnight campsites, smaller primitive campsites, a 30-room hotel, chalets, cabins, Bald Rock Room Lodge, Weddings and a Conference Room.
We had the most fantastic time walking the boardwalk. That was a big deal for me since I am disabled. I would have loved to go into the forest.
The weather was perfect. My friends were perfect. I just sat and talked. I looked out at the lake and watched the birds. I talked to people on the boardwalk—many on canes like me. Fall is a perfect season; it is the 31st, and it will probably be cold tonight like usual.
I hope everyone is careful tonight.
One more picture. Here is where a squirrel was hiding his nuts for Winter.
Uses of Vinegar and Baking Soda Then and Now
Vinegar is an old-fashioned, forgotten way that has been safe to clean for centuries. It is a safe alternative to chemicals. It has 5% acetic acid, breaking down dirt, oils, films, stains, and bacteria.
Vinegar is not recommended for natural stone, waxed wood, cast iron, or aluminum. It will harm the surface of these products. It is a powerful, environmentally friendly cleaner and can be used for cooking.
White vinegar — for cleaning.
Apple Cider Vinegar — food and medical purposes.
Balsamic Vinegar — Salad dressings and veggies.
Red or White Wine Vinegar — Cooking and Salads.
Apple Cider Vinegar is good for digestive problems and acid reflux. It will also get toxins out of the body and help you lose weight.
I am not a Dr., but these recipes have helped me personally. ACV is great for many ailments mixed with other herbs, which will be in my 2nd book. It will be longer with natural remedies to help you stay healthy at home. I am not saying to not go to Dr. I am saying, put nutrition in your body. If you have my Substack, there is a recipe for Fire Cider, which I cannot live without. It has helped me through colds and Covid.
Vinegar is not a disinfectant but a great cleaner. Refrain from mixing Clorox and vinegar.
Here is a list of uses that ACV can be good for:
Lower Blood Pressure
It makes you feel full — lose weight.
Preserve food.
Deodorizer.
Salad Dressing.
All Purpose Cleaner.
Freshener for my Dogs.
Hair Rinse.
Sore Throat.
Facial Toner.
Trap Fruit Flies.
Marinade.
Treat Dandruff.
Weed Killer.
Mouthwash.
Natural deodorant mixed with coconut oil.
Laundry detergent.
Fleas.
Baking Soda
Baking soda neutralizes leavening agent — bio sodium carbonate — and gives food a fluffy texture.
Here are some of its uses:
Teeth — Neutralizes acid in enamel.
Mouthwash — Mix with hot water
Teeth Whitener — Mild abrasive and helps fight harmful bacteria.
Refrigerator — deodorizers
Air Freshener — Add essential oil to baking soda, put in a bag, and hang.
Laundry — Whitening agent — 1/2 cup of regular detergent
Carpet Stains — Sprinkle baking soda on the spot. Spray vinegar on the spot and let sit for an hour. Dab up with a rag.
Pesticide remover from Fruit — soak in baking soda and water for 15 minutes. If the pesticide has gone through peelings, you can do nothing about it.
Weed killer — Put it on the sidewalk and driveway but not on your flowers. It is harmful to flowers.
Shoe deodorizer — put in your shoes to neutralize the odors.
Heartburn — Take a teaspoon with water.
Canker sores — Put on your mouth to kill bacteria.
Soaking in a tub will relieve itchy skin and sunburn.
Always put baking soda in a tight container to keep it from getting moist.
